Animation Plan

The plan for the animation is to split it between the two of us. With both of us able to use the path constraint we can do some walk through clips. Stephen is going to try slicing the building for a scene using the slice modifier and Martyn is going to animate the hand to open doors.

Week 15 – Meeting 10

Discussion of meeting:
Martyn has completed the hand ready for animation. And Stephen has added the walkway to the side of the building. The only thing left to do for the guildhall is to add the materials so this week will see the completion of the guildhall. Before we animate this week Stephen is going to add some surroundings like the church and pub. Martyn is going to make the general things for the guild hall like benches and light shades. Then we will both partake in animating the project.

Week 14 – Meeting 9

Discussion of meeting:
With us both contributing a lot to the project each week, we are nearing the end of making the guildhall. The interior has been completed by Martyn. And with the stairs in the guildhall it has the structure complete. The glass walkway is what Stephen is going to do this week and then it is down the adding the materials which will finish the guildhall. Martyn is going to continue making the hand so it is ready to complete the animation in time.

Week 13 – Meeting 8

Discussion of meeting:
With only a few elements left in the building to complete it feels like we are getting close to the animating stage. Martyn has made a start on the hand but with many new techniques it is quite time consuming. The stairs are the next part of the building that Stephen will make. Complete the hand and structure for the guildhall.

Discussion of meeting:
Martyn has completed adding the materials to the objects that will be in the interior. And with the roof on the guildhall it is really taking shape, with only a few elements left in the building to complete it feels like we are getting close to the animating stage. Stephen is going to add the doors and windows to the guildhall.

Week 11 – Meeting 6

Discussion of meeting:
Stephen has made the first floor, when it was added to the main part of the building it really felt like it was coming together. Martyn completed the furnishings for the museum. Jack has dropped out of the group so we are now responsible for creating the hand and animating the project. Martyn is going to make the hand with help from Stephen for animating. The week before deadline we have got an extension to allow time to animate and finish the project.

Discussion of meeting:
With Stephen having added the beams to the guildhall it has really added the age to the building. Martyn has completed the furniture which will make up the Library. Jack has failed to attend any meetings with the group. Progress is being made towards the static part of the project but without Jack attending the animation part may suffer.

Discussion of meeting:
Stephen has completed the ground floor which fit perfectly to the plans. This week he is going to be creating the Beams that are going to sit between the ground and first floor. Martyn has the furnishings for the toilet and the shop complete it is a matter of sticking to the plan and carrying on with the models for each room. This has been a productive week and we are on target to get the guildhall complete on time.

Discussion of meeting:
With Stephen having created the reference planes and with a start made on the ground floor, it is just a matter of completing the floor and adding the ground floor walls in. Martyn has made the furnishings for the toilet except for the dryer which has been started but not complete. Having made a plan of what is going to be in each room it is clear what is to be achieved each week.

Discussion of meeting:
This week is when the work begins on the Guildhall, with Stephen intending to put the reference planes in place and Martyn starting work on the downstairs toilet. Martyn is going to create a Dyson hand dryer for the toilet. As the reference planes will be relatively quick to do Stephen can start work on the Ground floor.

Research Meeting

Before we start the project it is important to know about what we are going to be refurbishing, the trip to the guildhall was very insightful and Martyn managed to get pictures to refer to throughout the project. Stephen researched into the Guildhall, including its vast history and restoration. Martyn and Stephen are going to look at the plans provided to ensure the technical scale of the building is proportional.

Week 6 - Meeting 1

Discussion of meeting:

We have decided to take the plans for the redevelopment of the Guildhall and produce an animation to show how the building will look after the redevelopment work. We will animate a walk through of the new building, complete with commentary. More than just animating a camera walk through of the different rooms, we plan to add other small pieces of animation, such as a hand opening doors and pointing to areas of interest that the commentary is talking about. Our aim is to give the impression of a tour guide taking the viewer through the building.


Plan of action for this week:

- To each take a component of the building plans and create to a basic standard by week 7.
- Stephen to create the exterior of the building
- Martyn to start creating the interior of the building

- Stephen will create a basic model of the exterior first, then send this to Martyn so that he can model the interior to a consistent scale and size.
